11th Annual Young Christian Leaders Scholarship Program

Introduction

Bethel Church Young Christian Leaders Scholarship is awarded to individuals who are graduating high school seniors and/or are currently enrolled as full-time college undergraduates.  Recipients will be selected based on endorsement from peers, family, and spiritual leaders as a person possessing a profound measure of character, commitment to serve, and exhibiting qualities of a future Christian leader. Scholarship awards are paid in one lump sum payment directly to recipients. Scholarship funds must be applied toward undergraduate tuition, fees, room, board, books, and other college expenses.
Scholarship application review and selection process is confidential and award decisions are final and may not be appealed. Documents submitted as part of the scholarship application will not be returned under any circumstances. The scholarship award ceremony will be held during our church’s Sunday service, Please refer to the schedule below for dates.

  • Award Ceremony Date: Sunday, August 11, 2024

Eligibility

* High School seniors or active college students must be an active member of Bethel Church or a child of one, OR be a child of a full-time missionary or pastor of Christian ministry.
* Have attained at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 for a high school student who has been accepted to and is entering the first year of undergraduate study at an accredited college/university in Fall 2024, or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for a student who is currently enrolled full-time in with at least 12 units and is continuing undergraduate degree in an accredited college/ university.
* Complete and submit documents listed under the “Required Documents” Section before the registration period ends.  Incomplete applications or insufficient documents will not be processed and will not be accepted.
* We recommend submitting your application at least one or two weeks before the registration period ends to allow time for recommendation letters and transcripts to arrive separately after the application is submitted.

Required Documents

1. Application
* Click the [Apply Now] button below to fill out the online application.

2. Two Essays
* Provide a brief autobiography describing personal background, ethical values, purpose in your life, and how you envision yourself in the future.
* Describe one topic from questions about your Christian life.  

3. Letters of recommendation
* One letter of pastoral recommendation from a currently attending church.
* Another letter from a social background (i.e., work, volunteer organization, clubs, teacher, professor, etc.)
* As a child of a missionary or pastor (non-Bethel Church Pastor),  one letter of recommendation from a Bethel Church pastor (3 letters total). or you can submit your parents' certification of ordination or certification of dispatch.
* Recommendation letters must be submitted from recommenders to the committee in this website. Any recommendation letter submitted by the applicant will not be accepted.

4. Official Transcript
* Provide an official transcript from their high school (incoming college freshmen) or college currently enrolled, including their GPA.
* If the current school record shows less than one year, provide the prior school’s accumulated transcript in addition to the current school’s transcript (2 total).
* Transcripts can be uploaded directly to the scholarship website by a school officer, OR sent directly to the scholarship committee ([email protected]) by the applicant using an online agency service (e.g., Parchment.com). Transcripts sent by the applicant will not be accepted.
* Transcripts submitted by the applicant, and report cards, progress reports, online image captures, photocopies, faxed copies will not be accepted.

Additional Information

Selection Process
The scholarship judging committee is comprised of Bethel Church elders and deacons. The committee will review and evaluate all the applications based on the application form, criteria, and available funds. The screening process goes through strict, fair evaluations from judging committee members.

It is not the registration period.
